John Dyess’ story is not the usual success story that you hear about every day. That is part of the charm that John carries wherever he goes. He is very much a people person and always has time to lend a hand and give an encouraging smile throughout the entire Lone Star State. His enthusiasm for his family, friends, employees, partners and of course his work is endless.
Born and raised in El Paso, Texas –John knew at the age of 19 that it was time to move and Austin-bound he was. Making Austin his home since then was a step in the right direction for this smart, savvy soon to be entrepreneur. “They” say timing is everything but with John timing was only a part of his success story. The other part was creating a business idea that worked for the benefit of his neighbors-in this case make that his fellow Texans.
Soon after the 9-11 attacks, John and his partner Matt Vickers decided to take action and started a small business to protect residents and business owners from “foul play”. John wanted to make sure that he could help make a difference and since that day, Dyezz Surveillance & Security has made many families and business owners feel secure and protected with the state-of-the-art security systems offered. Having surpassed the initial goals of being a thriving local business, John Dyess is a name that many Texans know. And this is not only due to his business growth throughout the state but it is also due to the fact that John is a gentleman and a forever friend.
Dyezz Surveillance & Security (DSS) started in Austin, Texas and then ventured into the San Antonio market in 2003, followed by El Paso, Dallas/ Ft. Worth and Houston. Being a local company within the state, the customer service is par excellence with dashes of wonderful Southern hospitality.
While the business continues to grow, John is involved with other businesses as well. Owning several properties throughout Austin, John is a landlord and partners with his brother Omar Dyess in his real estate adventures.
Fun, Food, Dining, Delectable Dishes and Divine Drinks-John is also a partner in Doc’s Backyard in Sunset Valley, Ten Oak in Austin, Iron Cactus in Bee Cave and Iron Cactus in San Antonio. He is also a partner with Global Security Supply and Used Security Supply.
John Dyess supports local businesses throughout Texas and is an advocate for so many others that have the entrepreneurial spirit. He encourages others to be giving because that is who John is… a very caring individual who gives back to the community whenever he can.

When John is not working, he can be found at many social events supporting the communities throughout Texas and helps by giving back to charities. He wants to continue growing his businesses so that one day in the near future-he can give back in an even bigger way.
John makes the time for his beautiful wife Tracy and his three wonderful children. His loving mother was born and raised in Chihuahua, Mexico and his father is from Mississippi and John always has the time for his parents. His family means the world to him and the feeling is mutual! It is impossible not to like John – he is only a handshake away.
